Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I worked out my whole body in the gym, focusing on squats and quad exercises, last Wednesday. Since then, I've been experiencing intense pain that makes it difficult to walk, sit, lie down, or use stairs. I usually go to the gym 3-4 times a week. Can you suggest anything to help alleviate this pain?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Likely Muscle Soreness: Your symptoms suggest you may be experiencing muscle soreness, a common occurrence after intense workouts.

Rest and Recovery: Allow your muscles to rest and recover by avoiding strenuous activities that aggravate the pain.

Ice Packs: Apply ice packs to the most painful muscles for 15-20 minutes several times a day to help reduce inflammation and numb the area.

Over-the-Counter Pain Relief: Consider taking ibuprofen or another over-the-counter pain reliever to help manage the discomfort. Follow the recommended dosage instructions.

Hydration: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, which can help flush out toxins and reduce muscle soreness.

Gentle Stretching: Perform gentle stretching exercises to help improve flexibility and alleviate muscle tightness.

Warm Bath: Taking a warm bath can help relax your muscles and provide relief from soreness.

Monitor Symptoms: If the pain persists or worsens, consult with a healthcare professional for further evaluation and advice.

Thanks
