Hello Doctor,
I’ve been experiencing pain in my lower back and also in my right knee. The pain started a few weeks ago and sometimes it feels sharp, especially when I move or stand for a long time. I’m not sure what might be causing this or what I should do to feel better. Could this be related? What steps can I take to manage the pain?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out Dr. Galen, Please find the below response to your query.
1. Your lower back and right knee pain might be connected, especially if there’s an issue with how you move or carry weight. Common causes include muscle strain, ligament stress, or early joint wear. It’s important to rest and avoid activities that make the pain worse. Applying ice to the affected areas for 15-20 minutes a few times a day can reduce inflammation and discomfort. Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen may also help ease your symptoms.
2. If the pain continues for more than two weeks, becomes more intense, or if you notice swelling, numbness, or weakness, I recommend seeing a doctor for a full assessment. They may suggest physical therapy or imaging tests such as X-rays or MRI to identify the exact cause and guide treatment. Early care can improve your recovery and prevent further damage.
