Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder six months ago, which caused changes, including difficulty walking—I couldn’t walk alone. After hospital treatment, I recovered, but my walking is still impaired. I can’t lift my foot properly, making movement slow and difficult, though there’s no pain. A 15-minute walk now takes an hour. I was prescribed "Neurobion" but haven’t started it yet. Could this be nerve damage, or something else? What should I do?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. Your symptoms appear neurological rather than orthopedic, possibly involving nerve dysfunction. Neurobion, a high-dose vitamin B complex, supports nerve repair but may take 6–8 weeks to show effects.

2. Physical therapy is highly recommended to improve mobility and strength. Additionally, neurophysiological tests like nerve conduction studies or EMG can help identify the cause.

3. I suggest consulting a neurologist for a detailed evaluation. Early intervention and consistent therapy can significantly aid recovery.

Thanks
