Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

My father has been experiencing pain in his legs, knees, and back for nearly 7 months, and he has also been losing a significant amount of weight. I am unsure about the cause of his condition. The last time he was examined by a doctor, they mentioned that his uric acid levels were high. I am seeking answers regarding my fathers health and any suggestions you may have to help alleviate the pain he is experiencing in his legs, knees, and back.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

I am sorry to hear about your father. I believe we should consider and rule out three potential causes for his generalized bone pain in the back, legs, and knees. The first possibility is low back pain with sciatica, which is often caused by a disc issue in the spine. Additionally, we should also exclude osteoporosis as a potential cause, especially if the pain is not relieved by medication or analgesics. Lastly, it is important to rule out any underlying health issues that could be leading to rapid weight loss, such as diabetes mellitus.

Thanks
