Hello Doctor,
I'm a 62-year-old female with Parkinson’s. I had a hard fall on concrete on Christmas, hitting my head and injuring my knees, ankle, and left arm. ER tests showed no fractures, but my left arm is still extremely weak and painful—it’s worsening, not improving. I can bend my fingers, but even slight movement or pressure causes unbearable pain. My doctor says it’s not broken and needs time, but I’m worried. What could be causing this, and what should I do next?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
A fracture-free scan doesn’t mean there’s no injury. Soft tissue or nerve damage could be causing your symptoms. Gentle heat therapy, like a warm jacuzzi or steam bath, may help with recovery. However, since your pain is worsening, a follow-up exam, possibly with an MRI, is recommended.
Thanks
