Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’ve been experiencing pain in my right hip bone for quite some time now. The pain gets worse when I move, especially when I walk, and it feels like I hit the bone. It has been going on for several months. I’ve tried using patches and capsaicin cream, but the cream actually hurts the bone when I apply it. With the patch, the pain calms down a bit temporarily, but it comes back, and it’s intermittent. The pain mainly hurts with certain movements, and I’m not sure if it’s related to anything else. It feels like a bruise or like I was hit, and when I touch the bone, it hurts as well. I’m 33 years old, 1.60 meters tall, and weigh 40 kg. The pain feels like I slammed into a wall or a corner, leaving a bruise. Could this be something serious, or should I be concerned about what might be causing it?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Based on your symptoms, it seems like you may be dealing with Trochanteric Bursitis, which is an inflammation of the bursa near the hip. This condition can cause pain when moving or putting pressure on the hip, much like the pain you're describing. In some cases, injections can help reduce inflammation and provide relief. I recommend seeing an orthopedic surgeon who can assess your condition in more detail and suggest appropriate treatment options.

Thanks
