Hello Doctor,
I’ve recently noticed that one side of my chest bone (sternum) seems to be protruding out more than the other. I'm concerned about whether this could be caused by an improper exercise routine or if it's just a natural growth or anatomical difference. I’ve been doing weightlifting and some chest exercises, but I’m not sure if my form could be contributing to this. Should I be worried about this asymmetry, and is it something that could be corrected with adjustments in my workout routine, or is it simply a normal variation in my body?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
It sounds like what you're describing could be due to asymmetrical growth, similar to what is seen in conditions like scoliosis, where one side of the body develops differently than the other. In many cases, this is not a cause for concern and is just a natural variation in the body. However, without a physical examination, it's difficult to say for certain. If you're noticing any discomfort or if you're worried, it might be helpful to consult with a healthcare provider who can assess your condition more thoroughly.
Thanks
