Hello Doctor,
I’ve been experiencing pain in both of my Achilles tendons for about 4 days now. The pain persists whether I'm moving or not, and sometimes it worsens when my feet are cold. However, there are no visible scars or injuries on the tendons. What could be causing this pain, and what should I do to relieve it?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
1. Based on your symptoms, it sounds like you may be experiencing Achilles tendinitis, which is an inflammation of the Achilles tendon. This condition often causes pain, especially during movement, and can be aggravated by cold temperatures.
2. It’s common for the tendon to feel tender or stiff, even without visible scars or injury.
3. To help relieve the pain, I recommend rest, applying ice to the affected area, and elevating your feet when possible.
4. Over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen, can help reduce inflammation. If the pain persists or worsens, it would be a good idea to see a doctor for further evaluation and possible imaging to rule out other conditions, such as a tendon tear or rupture. In the meantime, try to avoid activities that put additional strain on your Achilles tendons.
Thanks
