Hello Doctor,
I do a lot of heavy lifting at work. Yesterday, after loading heavy items, I felt a snap in my right shoulder, followed by sharp pain and a small popping sound. Now, my right shoulder sits lower than the left, and the pain is constant. What could this be? Should I be worried?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
1. Your symptoms suggest a possible tendon rupture or shoulder dislocation. The lower position of your shoulder and the popping sound indicate structural damage.
2. Can you move your arm, or is the pain severe? Avoid lifting or straining it further. You can take over-the-counter painkillers and apply ice to reduce swelling. However, imaging like an X-ray or MRI is necessary to confirm the injury and determine the right treatment.
3. I recommend seeking medical attention as soon as possible to prevent complications. If you experience numbness or tingling, get urgent care.
Thanks
