Hello Doctor,
I’ve been dealing with persistent pain in my front shoulder for about a year now. It started after a gym session when I didn’t warm up properly, and I’ve never sought treatment or done any rehab for it. At the time, I was told the recovery process might be expensive, so I decided to wait and see if it would heal on its own. Unfortunately, the pain hasn’t gone away, and now I’m worried it could be affecting my overall health and fitness. What steps should I take to address this, and is it too late to start treatment?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Persistent shoulder pain needs evaluation. A plain X-ray can help rule out rotator cuff injuries, dislocation, fracture, or osteoarthritis. Rest, an arm sling, and anti-inflammatory medication like Atoflam can reduce pain. Once pain improves, rehab guided by a physical therapist is vital to restore mobility and strength. If pain persists, an MRI may be needed. Addressing this early prevents long-term issues.
Thanks
