Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’m experiencing pain on my right side, specifically towards my hip. The discomfort has been persistent and sometimes makes it difficult for me to move comfortably. I’m not sure what could be causing this pain, and I would like to know if I should seek medical attention or if there are any steps I can take to relieve the discomfort.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Based on your description, the pain on your right side towards the hip could be a possible case of musculoskeletal strain. However, it may also result from an infection or inflammation of the abdominal organs, particularly those on the right side.

Monitor Your Symptoms: Keep track of any additional symptoms, such as fever, nausea, or changes in bowel habits, as these can provide valuable information for your doctor.

Rest and Avoid Strain: Try to avoid activities that may aggravate the pain. Resting can help alleviate discomfort.

Ice Application: Applying ice to the affected area for 15-20 minutes can help reduce inflammation and numb the pain.

Pain Relief Medication: Over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, may help manage your discomfort, but please follow the recommended dosages.

Thanks
