Hello Doctor,
I've been experiencing severe pain on my left side for about a month now. It feels like a stabbing pain that radiates from directly under my ribcage to my back. Along with this, I've been feeling really dizzy, nauseous, and have had constant heartburn. My ears have been ringing, I have a bad cough, and I've also been dealing with diarrhea. The strange part is that I've been to the ER three times, and each time, I was given a different diagnosis—ranging from a virus, indigestion, and a UTI, to them saying nothing was wrong. But I feel much, much worse. What could be causing this, and what should I do next?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
1. Based on your symptoms, I recommend getting tested for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), as this bacterial infection can contribute to persistent abdominal pain, nausea, and heartburn. Additionally, an abdominal ultrasound or CT scan would be useful to assess your stomach, pancreas, gallbladder, or kidneys for any underlying conditions.
2. Since you are also experiencing dizziness, ringing in the ears, and a bad cough, a more comprehensive evaluation may be necessary to rule out gastrointestinal disorders, infections, or other systemic issues. It is crucial to follow up with a healthcare provider for further assessment and appropriate treatment.
