Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’m really concerned about something that happened to me recently. I was lying down, and I’m not sure if I was asleep or just in that half-asleep state, but I had my eyes open and could see everything around me. Suddenly, my heart started racing really fast, and I heard a rushing sound in my head, almost like air moving through it. I couldn’t move at all, and it felt really scary. Have you heard of anything like this? What could it be?

Hello

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Based on your description, it sounds like you may be experiencing symptoms related to anxiety, particularly a type of panic or anxiety attack that can cause physical sensations like a racing heart, the feeling of being unable to move, and odd sensations in your head.

I would recommend scheduling an assessment with a psychologist to better understand what’s going on and to discuss possible anxiety disorders. If you’d like, you can book a consultation with me so we can go through your symptoms more thoroughly. I can then suggest some remedies, whether they involve lifestyle changes, relaxation techniques, or, if necessary, other treatment options.

Thanks
