Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I've been feeling a burning sensation when I pee, and today I noticed some blood after wiping. It’s not a lot, but it’s enough to make me worried. What could be causing this? Should I be concerned?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

You may have a urinary tract infection (UTI) or possibly a bladder or ureteric stone, especially if you're experiencing pain along with the burning sensation. To determine the cause, you should get a urine analysis and culture, along with a pelvic ultrasound. Based on the results, a gynecologist or urologist can guide you further. In the meantime, drink plenty of fluids to help flush out any bacteria. If an infection is confirmed, a doctor will prescribe suitable antibiotics and urinary analgesics to relieve discomfort.

Thanks
