Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I was recently diagnosed with a UTI through a urinalysis, and I'm currently on antibiotics. However, I’m experiencing significant vaginal pain and discomfort. My labia is swollen, sensitive, and painful, and I’m concerned that there may be something else going on. Should I be worried or is this a normal part of a UTI treatment?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

It’s possible that the pain and swelling you're experiencing could be an allergic reaction to the antibiotic you're taking. However, it could also be an infection of the labia, such as a yeast infection or another condition. It's important to get checked out by a healthcare provider to determine the cause and receive the appropriate treatment. I would recommend scheduling an appointment or contacting your doctor for a proper examination.

Thanks
