Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I got a heat rash a couple of months ago, and it was exacerbated by chlorine (allergy). The abrasions on my leg haven’t healed. I’ve gone to the hospital for the allergy, but my legs are my biggest issue because the chlorine was heavier during the dry season (I live on a Caribbean island). I recently acquired some antibiotics from my dad (retired nurse). How long do I keep my legs covered/dry before I can stop wearing bandages? I have ADHD, and the urge to keep checking is really there. I added pics from last night before I wrapped it.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr.Galen. Please find the below response to your query:

Given the complexity of your case, it is important that you schedule a consultation with a healthcare professional as soon as possible to address your concerns in detail. The prolonged non-healing abrasions on your legs, exacerbated by the heat rash and chlorine allergy, can lead to complications such as secondary infections, scarring, or even chronic skin issues if not properly managed. Additionally, self-medicating with antibiotics acquired from a non-medical source may not effectively treat the underlying problem and could have adverse effects.

A comprehensive medical evaluation is crucial to determine the appropriate treatment plan tailored to your specific condition. Your diligence in managing your health is commendable, and seeking professional medical advice will ensure the best possible outcome for your recovery.

Thanks
