Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’m concerned about my medication. Is the combination of Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, and Phenylephrine Hydrochloride harmful? What should I be aware of when taking these together?

Answered by Dr. Hans Unim

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

There are no specific contraindications when combining Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, and Phenylephrine Hydrochloride. Dextromethorphan acts as a cough suppressant, while Chlorpheniramine helps reduce runny nose symptoms, and Phenylephrine works as a decongestant. You may experience some minor drowsiness as a side effect. Overall, you can safely proceed with this combination to manage your flu or cold symptoms.

Thanks
