Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I just finished taking Diflucan 150 mg for a yeast infection. How long do I need to avoid alcohol after completing the treatment?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

After completing your Diflucan 150 mg treatment, it’s generally advised to avoid alcohol for at least one week. This recommendation is to ensure that there are no potential interactions between alcohol and the medication that could affect its effectiveness or cause side effects. While Diflucan (fluconazole) doesn’t have a direct interaction with alcohol, both can put stress on your liver, and consuming alcohol too soon after completing treatment may increase the risk of liver toxicity. To be on the safe side, waiting for about one week is usually enough.

Thanks
