Hello Doctor,
I've been experiencing dizziness and unsteadiness, which I believe might be related to vertigo. I was prescribed loratadine for allergies and was wondering if it's safe to take loratadine while dealing with vertigo. Could it make my symptoms worse or interact with any treatments I might be using for vertigo?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
1. No, loratadine is an antihistamine used to treat allergies, and vertigo is not typically related to allergies. It is generally safe to take loratadine for allergies, but it may not help with vertigo. If you are experiencing nausea or vomiting along with your dizziness, loratadine might help, but otherwise, it's not the best treatment for vertigo itself.
2. For relief, try sitting down in a comfortable position for about 30 seconds and relax. If your symptoms persist or worsen, it's best to visit your GP for a full evaluation and appropriate treatment.
Thanks
