Hello Doctor,
I'm a 19-year-old male. Two months ago, I did wrist curls and squeezing exercises until my forearms got sore. Since then, I’ve had a burning sensation when lifting heavy and a shock-like feeling in my forearm when I shrug. My doctor prescribed Felbex (Piroxicam beta-cyclodextrin) 20mg after a test. Are these tablets necessary for treatment or just for pain relief? If it’s just for pain, I’d rather stop taking them.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Your symptoms suggest carpal tunnel irritation, likely affecting your median nerve (thumb, index, and middle fingers). The NSAID (Felbex) helps reduce inflammation, and vitamin B supports nerve healing. Symptoms should improve soon, but you need to protect your wrists with supports or bandages during workouts. The wrist has little muscle protection, so injuries can happen easily. Look up "Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Conservative Treatment" for more care tips. If symptoms persist, follow up with your doctor.
Thanks
