Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I recently had a blood test done by my GI specialist, and my AG ratio came back as 2.3, which they considered high. Should I be concerned about this result? What does it mean, and what steps should I take next?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. Based on your AG ratio of 2.3, there is no cause for concern. The AG ratio is calculated by dividing the albumin level by the globulin level in your blood. Typically, a ratio above 2.5 is considered high and indicates a higher-than-normal albumin level.

2. Since your ratio is below 2.5, it falls within the normal range. Therefore, there’s no need to worry at this point. However, if you have any other concerns or symptoms, it's always good to discuss them with your doctor for further guidance.

Thanks
