Hello Doctor,
I’ve been having really sore breasts for a few days now. They feel kind of bruised on the inside, even though I haven’t hit or injured them. It’s especially painful if I press on them or even when something lightly touches them, like clothing. Should I be worried? What could be causing this?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
1. Breast soreness or tenderness is quite common, especially a few days before your period or during breastfeeding. It’s usually due to hormonal changes and often goes away on its own.
2. However, if you’re not near your period, not breastfeeding, or if the pain feels like a deep bruise and happens with even light pressure, it’s a good idea to see a doctor. There could be other causes like muscle strain, an infection, or a benign lump. While most breast pain isn’t serious, it’s important to get checked just to be safe.
3. I don’t recommend taking any medication on your own. A general practitioner can examine you and, if needed, suggest further tests like an ultrasound. Getting a proper diagnosis will give you peace of mind and help you feel better sooner.
Thanks
