Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’ve been dealing with a few symptoms that I’m really concerned about. I often make loud noises when I sleep, and people sometimes think I have asthma, but I don’t. My eyes, nose, ears, and throat get super itchy all the time. My eyes are watery, and I feel like I’m always getting colds. On top of that, my nose is constantly runny. Could all of this be related, or is it something else?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. Based on your symptoms, it’s most likely that you’re suffering from allergic rhinitis, a condition where your immune system reacts to allergens.

2. Common triggers include dust, pollen, and cold weather. If you also experience wheezing, an inhaler like Ventolin might help manage your breathing. Otherwise, nasal irrigation (saline rinses) can clear congestion, and antihistamines may help with the itching and runny nose.

3. Try to identify any potential triggers in your environment and avoid them as much as possible. If your symptoms persist, it’s a good idea to consult a specialist for further management.

Thanks
