Hello Doctor,
I’ve been taking Glipzine along with Metformin to manage my blood sugar levels. Recently, I've noticed that my blood sugar is dropping too low, and I'm feeling lightheaded. I'm concerned about this. Can I stop taking Glipzine, or should I adjust the dosage? What would be the best course of action in this situation?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Glipizide and Metformin are commonly used together to control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes.
This combination improves insulin sensitivity and reduces sugar production in the liver.
Not for Type 1 Diabetes: Glipizide and Metformin are not intended for treating type 1 diabetes.
If your blood sugar is high, continue taking Glipizide while following a healthy lifestyle.
Diet: Focus on reducing fats, sugars, and salt. Increase intake of fruits and vegetables.
Exercise: Regular physical activity is essential in managing blood sugar levels.
If you continue to experience low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), consult your healthcare provider for potential adjustments in medication or diet.
Thanks
