Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

Is there an association between osteoarthritis and an elevated white blood cell count?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

There is no significant association between an elevated white blood cell count and age-related osteoarthritis.. However, research suggests that certain immune-related or rheumatic factors can influence white blood cell counts. This is particularly relevant in cases of post-infection osteoarthritis. If you have any doubts, it is advisable to consult a rheumatologist.

Thanks
