Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’ve been experiencing little white bumps on the skin around my vaginal opening, and they are painful. I’m wondering if this could be related to a vaginal yeast infection? Is this something that can happen, or could it be something else?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

While a vaginal yeast infection typically doesn't cause painful white bumps, the symptoms you're describing may be more consistent with herpes, as it can cause painful blisters or sores in that area. I recommend getting checked by a healthcare provider for a proper diagnosis. It's also important to have your partner tested as herpes can be transmitted even when there are no visible symptoms. Please don't wait to seek medical advice to ensure you get the right treatment.

Thanks
