Hello Doctor,
Please help me resolve my anxiety. I ejaculated outside my girlfriend's vagina on the 7th day of her period, and we have never had intercourse. She is a virgin and remains so. After I ejaculated, she changed her underwear and pants because they got wet and wiped the semen from the area outside her vagina with a cloth. Her last period started on February 7, and the ejaculation occurred on February 13. The semen was on the upper part of her vagina, and some of her urinary area was wet. Given that her cycle is usually 28 days, could she become pregnant?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the response to your query below.
Firstly, it's important to understand that sperm can travel quickly and that precum can also lead to pregnancy. Therefore, relying solely on the pull-out method is not the most effective way to prevent pregnancy. However, since you mentioned there was no penetration, here’s some information for educational purposes.
In a typical 28-day cycle, ovulation generally occurs around 14 days before the next period. If you ejaculated on the 7th day of her cycle, she should be in her safer days. Ovulation, when she is most fertile, typically happens between days 11 and 21 of the cycle. If ovulation occurs on day 14, conception can happen that day or within the next 24 hours. Sperm can survive inside the female body for up to 5 days, so even if she does not have intercourse or get sperm inside her on days 14 or 15, pregnancy is still possible if sperm was present on days 9-13.
Thanks
