Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I've had a dark, soft, and painless lump just under my vaginal opening for years. The skin around the area is also darker. It doesn't cause any discomfort, but I have no idea what it is or if I should be concerned. I've never been sexually active or given birth. Should I be worried? Is there any way to get rid of it?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

It sounds like you may have a vaginal cyst, which is usually harmless but can persist over time. Since it has been there for years and is not causing pain, it may not be urgent, but removal is an option if it bothers you. A minor surgical procedure performed by a gynecologist or surgeon can help remove it safely. I recommend scheduling a consultation with a gynecologist to evaluate it properly and discuss the best course of action.

Thanks
