Hello Doctor,
My ovulation dates were from December 5th to 11th. Since then, I have been experiencing pelvic pain, as well as random sharp pains in my perineum and vagina. Starting on the 13th, the pain has been solely in my pelvic area and has not stopped. I am now one day away from my expected menstrual cycle. Additionally, I've noticed a change in my taste and breast tenderness. I have uterine fibroids. Could the fibroids be causing this pain?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Yes, fibroids can indeed cause pain. It is important for you to undergo an examination and imaging tests to assess the fibroids, as they can lead to complications such as infections, hyperplasia, or other changes like calcification or malignancy. After the scan, a pipelle sample and Pap smear may be necessary. If there are multiple large fibroids, surgery might be required. Please consult with your healthcare provider about the appropriate type and approach for surgery.
Thanks
