Hello Doctor,
I have a problem of penis discharge for over 1 year now. I did Chlamydia and Gonorrhea tests, and they are negative. Also, I don't have sex. There is no pain, no smell, or color. It is discharging 3-4 times a day. Please advise.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr.Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
It seems your penile discharge is not caused by a sexually transmitted infection (STI) like chlamydia or gonorrhea. Even though you are not sexually active, there are a few other potential causes for your discharge:
-
Urethritis: Inflammation of the urethra, often due to irritation from soaps or chemicals, may lead to a white or cloudy discharge.
-
Prostatitis: Inflammation of the prostate gland can cause a thick, pus-like discharge, especially during bowel movements, and may present additional symptoms like pain or fever.
-
Balanitis: Inflammation of the head of the penis, often due to poor hygiene or irritation, can cause a thick discharge under the foreskin.
-
Smegma: A thick substance made of dead skin cells and oils that can accumulate under the foreskin, often mistaken for discharge.
Even though your discharge is not accompanied by pain, odor, or color changes, it’s still advisable to see a doctor to determine the underlying cause. Persistent discharge can indicate a chronic infection or other condition needing treatment. Your doctor can examine you, test the discharge, and order additional tests as necessary. Treatment may include antibiotics, antifungal medication, or lifestyle changes.
Meanwhile, keep the area clean and dry, avoid irritating soaps, and wear loose, breathable underwear. If the discharge increases, becomes painful, or is accompanied by fever or chills, seek medical attention promptly.
