Hello Doctor,
Could my recent increase in snoring during the night, accompanied by waking up with a sore throat and partially blocked nose, indicate a potential issue? Additionally, why do I find myself snoring even when awake, particularly when breathing through my mouth?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr.Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA): This condition occurs when the muscles at the back of the throat relax excessively during sleep, leading to partial or complete blockage of the airway.
Allergies or Sinus Problems: Nasal congestion caused by allergies or sinus issues can lead to difficulty breathing through the nose, resulting in mouth breathing and increased snoring.
Weight Gain: Extra weight, especially around the neck area, can put pressure on the airway, making it more likely to collapse during sleep and causing snoring.
Nasal Congestion: If your nose is partially blocked, you may naturally resort to breathing through your mouth, which can lead to snoring even when awake.
Thanks
