Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’m fourteen and run track but recently whenever I run or jump, whether for hurdles or relays, I get a horrible stabbing feeling in the back of my knee. Can anyone tell me what it is?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. Based on the symptoms you've described, it’s possible that you may be experiencing a Baker's cyst, also known as a popliteal cyst, which can cause pain in the back of the knee, especially with movement like running or jumping.

2. However, to provide a more accurate diagnosis and determine the best course of treatment, I would need to ask a few more questions and possibly perform an examination. I recommend scheduling an appointment so we can discuss your symptoms in more detail and find the right solution for you.

Thanks
