Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I recently visited the emergency room two days ago and received a diagnosis of a stomach bug. I've been experiencing these symptoms for the past five days, and it got me thinking back to a previous instance when I felt similar discomfort after drinking well water. Upon questioning my mother-in-law, I discovered that indeed, we do use well water at home. The last time I consumed well water, I only used it for bathing, opting for bottled water for drinking. Given the severity of my current symptoms compared to previous experiences, I'm concerned about the possibility of well water poisoning. Is there a way to test my body for this condition?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

To properly assess your situation, it's crucial to delve into the specifics of your symptoms, such as vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. These details help in pinpointing the underlying cause of your illness. Persistent stomach pain can stem from various sources, including peptic ulcers and food intolerances, among others.

If you continue to experience discomfort, I strongly advise seeking further medical attention. When consulting your doctor, be sure to communicate the lack of improvement in your condition and provide insights into any additional symptoms you may have noticed. Additionally, inform them about your history of consuming well water. Armed with this comprehensive information, your doctor can conduct the necessary tests and examinations to facilitate an accurate diagnosis.

Thanks
