Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I recently shaved my genital area, and as it started growing back, I noticed the presence of some bumps. Initially, they were itchy, but now they do not cause any pain. I have been in a relationship with my girlfriend for over a year, and prior to that, I had multiple sexual partners but always practiced safe sex using condoms. I am extremely anxious about the possibility of having herpes. Although I do not have any flu-like symptoms, I do experience occasional cold sores on my lips, typically once every two years.

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

First of all, you have to clean the area with iodine antiseptic, then apply antibiotic cream twice daily for 3-5 days. As you have multiple partners, it is better to undergo laboratory check-up for sexually transmitted diseases, including herpes, to detect and treat any hidden infections.
