Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I've had this persistent cough for over four weeks now, and it's driving me crazy. It's both dry and wet, and I feel this constant urge to cough, especially when I lay down at night. Along with that, I'm experiencing congestion, headaches (fortunately no fever), and occasional sweating and chills. I'm not sure what could be causing this. Any insights or suggestions on what I should do next?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

The most common causes for your symptoms include tobacco use, postnasal drip, acid reflux, and post-infectious cough. The headaches you're experiencing may be due to the repeated stress from coughing. The good news is that chronic cough typically resolves once the underlying issue is addressed. It's essential to consult with a healthcare professional to determine the exact cause and develop an appropriate treatment plan.

Thanks
