Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

After shoveling some light snow, I experienced a blood pressure reading of 158/81, along with nausea. I am a 62-year-old female with slightly elevated blood pressure. Should I be concerned? I typically have slightly high blood pressure and take medication for it. Additionally, I have chronic nausea.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

I hope you are doing well. Blood pressure can increase with exertion, but when you experience other symptoms such as nausea, sweating, chest pain, shortness of breath, or back pain along with elevated blood pressure, I would recommend seeing a cardiologist for further testing. Also, continue taking your blood pressure medications daily.

Thanks
