Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

My daughter has been taking Cefixime, Guaifenesin, Phenylephrine Hydrochloride, and Chlorphenamine Maleate (Olfacof), a 3-in-1 medicine for expectorant, nasal decongestant, and antihistamine, for the past 7 days. Today is her last dose of these medicines, but her nose is still a little runny at times, and she still has a mild chesty cough. Is it safe for her to take Salbutamol tomorrow for the cough?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

As it's been 7 days since she started the medications, you can stop them now. The residual cough may take a few more days to resolve, but it will settle on its own. There's no need to worry. Please ensure she drinks plenty of warm fluids to aid her recovery.

Thanks
