Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I got hit in the shoulder and arm by a bleacher railing about 2 weeks ago. I thought it was better, then I did a break fall class in karate and rolled on that side, causing severe pain. I've been trying to rest it, but today I lifted something and something popped. Should I be concerned?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. Yes, you should be concerned. Hearing a popping sound when lifting something could indicate a possible injury to the bones, muscles, or ligaments in the shoulder or arm. I recommend getting an X-ray to rule out any fractures or dislocations, especially considering the trauma from the initial injury and the subsequent pain after your karate class.

2. An X-ray will help provide clarity on the extent of the damage and guide appropriate treatment.

Thanks
