Hello Doctor,
I've been experiencing swelling in my feet ankles for the past 2 weeks. It's getting worse, and it's painful too. What can I do to stop the hurting and swelling? I really need to know what steps to take.
Hello, Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
First, it's crucial to determine the underlying cause of your ankle swelling. I recommend consulting a Cardiologist to rule out any cardiac conditions that may be contributing to the swelling. Once cardiac issues have been ruled out, an X-ray of both ankles can help assess the possibility of arthritis. Assuming these tests yield normal results, wearing compression stockings and elevating your legs above your waist while sitting or lying down can provide relief. Further investigations may be necessary to identify the root cause of the swelling.
Thanks
