Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I had an incomplete miscarriage confirmed by ultrasound, showing small remains inside. I was given doxycycline and metronidazole. Do I need to undergo a D&C? What are the risks if I don't, and are there alternatives?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

It effectively explains that in cases like yours, Dilation and Curettage (D&C) is the recommended treatment. This procedure involves removing tissue from inside the uterus and is commonly used by healthcare professionals to diagnose and treat various uterine conditions, including heavy bleeding, or to clear the uterine lining after a miscarriage or abortion.

Thanks
