Hello Doctor,
My girlfriend has been complaining about a sharp pain in her lower belly since last night. It comes and goes, and she says it's worse when she moves around or tries to lie on her side. She's not on her period, and we’re a bit worried because she usually doesn’t have stomach pain like this. She hasn’t had any nausea or vomiting, but she’s feeling uncomfortable and restless. What could be causing this pain? Should we be concerned?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out Dr. Galen, Please find the below response to your query.
1. Based on your description, the lower belly pain your girlfriend is experiencing could be related to several possible gastrointestinal issues, such as constipation, gas buildup, or even early signs of an infection like gastroenteritis or appendicitis. If the pain is more on the right side and gets worse with movement, it’s important not to ignore the possibility of appendicitis. Another possibility could be related to reproductive organs, which would need a gynecological evaluation.
2. Since the pain is persistent and affecting her comfort, I would recommend seeing a doctor in person or through an online consultation soon. A physical examination and possibly imaging like an ultrasound may be needed to narrow down the cause. In the meantime, avoid giving her any strong painkillers unless prescribed, and monitor for any new symptoms like fever, vomiting, or changes in bowel movements.
Thanks
