Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I recently discovered a lump on my neck. It's been there for a few days now, and I'm starting to worry. Could this be a serious issue? Should I be concerned about cancer or other serious conditions? What steps should I take to have it checked?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Nature of the Lump: Be concerned because the exact nature of the lump is unknown.

Possible Causes: It could be an inflamed lymph node due to a bacterial or viral infection.

Duration of the Lump: If the lump has been present for several days, it's advisable to seek a physical examination by a doctor.

Importance of Physical Examination: A physical examination by a healthcare professional is essential to assess the lump.

Differentiating Harmless Lumps: While many neck lumps are harmless, a physical examination is still strongly advised to rule out any serious conditions.

Thanks
