Hello Doctor,
I am trying to conceive this month, but I’ve missed my period, which is unusual for me. After about 5 days, I noticed brown discharge that didn’t leak onto my pad, and then four days later, I saw pink discharge. Additionally, I’ve been experiencing knee pain, cramps on both sides of my abdomen, and breast discomfort that feels like cramping. I’m worried about these symptoms and what they could mean.
Could these signs indicate that I’m pregnant, or is there a chance something might be wrong with the pregnancy? Should I be concerned about the discharge and pain I’m feeling?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
The symptoms you describe—missing your period, brown and pink discharge, and pain in various body parts—are concerning and should be addressed promptly. While you may hope for a pregnancy, these symptoms could indicate complications, such as a threatening miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy, which occurs when the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus. This condition can be serious and lead to life-threatening complications if not treated quickly.
I strongly recommend that you seek medical attention immediately. A gynecologist will likely perform blood tests and an ultrasound to determine if you are pregnant and whether the pregnancy is progressing normally. If it turns out to be a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy, prompt treatment is necessary, which may involve medication or surgery. If you’re not planning to conceive soon, discuss contraception options with your doctor.
Please do not delay in seeking care; early diagnosis and treatment are crucial for your health. I understand this may be a stressful time, but help is available.
Thanks.
