Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I've had a persistent sore throat for over a month now. I also wake up with a bad taste in my mouth and some mucus in the mornings. I was previously on treatment for GERD but stopped a while ago. Could this be related, or should I be concerned about something else?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Your symptoms could indeed be related to reflux, especially considering your history of GERD. However, since these symptoms have persisted for over a month, it would be helpful to reassess your condition to rule out other potential causes, such as postnasal drip, chronic sinusitis, or even infections. I recommend scheduling a follow-up to evaluate further, which may include a physical exam, a review of your previous treatment, and possibly additional tests like a throat culture or imaging if needed.

Thanks
