Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I've been struggling with severe sinus pressure since September 2022. Despite antibiotics and multiple allergy medications, I required two corrective surgeries: the first for turbinate reduction, and the second for turbinate reduction, septoplasty, septum spur removal, and dissolving implants to prevent nasal valve collapse.  After the second surgery in August 2023, I experienced significant improvement, with my nose no longer swelling shut weekly. However, I caught Influenza A in early February, and my sinus issues have returned.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Consider Sinus Imaging:

Depending on your symptoms and the findings of the examination, your ENT specialist may recommend sinus imaging (such as a CT scan) to further evaluate the sinus anatomy and any persistent issues.

Consider Nasal Sprays:

Discuss the possibility of using nasal sprays containing steroids and antihistamines to manage any swelling or inflammation in the turbinates.

Thanks
