Hello Doctor,
I’ve had nasal drainage, upper gum pain, stuffy nose, sneezing, etc., for about a month. I also have blood in my snot. I had a sinus infection about two months ago and took antibiotics and steroids. I’m currently taking over-the-counter meds. What can I do to relieve pain and clear this up?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
You may have acute sinusitis combined with an allergic condition. The key to relief is keeping your nose clean with nasal washes using saline or other specific sprays. Antibiotics are important for eradicating the infection, but you may need a stronger one than azithromycin. Intranasal steroids are also crucial for your case. Finally, it's important to determine if this is chronic sinusitis combined with allergies or just one of those conditions. A proper diagnosis is necessary for the best treatment.
Thanks
