Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I've been experiencing penile dryness and pain for a few days now. The skin on my foreskin and the glans penis is dry and flaky. There's also pain when I apply pressure to the left side of the penis. Can you help me understand what might be causing this and what steps I should take to treat it?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. Based on your symptoms of penile dryness, flaky skin, and localized pain, it’s possible that you may be experiencing a yeast infection, which can cause similar symptoms. In this case, topical antifungal medication should be considered for treatment.

2. However, if the condition persists or if there are recurring infections, a circumcision may be recommended as a more long-term solution to reduce the risk of further irritation or infection. It's important to see a healthcare provider to confirm the diagnosis and get a proper prescription. Additionally, avoid any harsh soaps or irritants on the affected area, and ensure you're practicing good hygiene.

Thanks
