Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

After having sex, I started feeling a burning sensation inside my vagina. This burning continues afterward and also causes pain and burning when I urinate. Could you please help me understand what might be causing this?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out Dr. Galen, Please find the below response to your query.

1. Burning inside the vagina after sex that continues and causes burning during urination can have several causes. It might be due to insufficient lubrication, infections like urinary tract infection, bacterial vaginosis, or yeast infection, or even an allergic reaction to condoms or lubricants. Sometimes, pelvic muscle issues or skin conditions can also cause these symptoms.

2. I recommend seeing a healthcare provider for a proper exam and diagnosis. Meanwhile, using a water-based lubricant during sex may help if dryness is a factor. Also, watch for other symptoms like unusual discharge or persistent pain, and share these with your doctor to get the right treatment.

Thanks
