Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I've noticed that my pelvic muscles feel a bit weak after ejaculating. Could coughing after masturbating and ejaculating cause any harm to these muscles or other organs like the prostate? Can it lead to urine leaking out and entering the ejaculatory ducts?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Weak pelvic floor muscles can indeed lead to various issues, such as incontinence and sexual difficulties. Several factors, including persistent heavy lifting, engaging in high-impact exercise, experiencing long-term coughing, and simply aging, can contribute to the weakening of these muscles.

Regarding your specific concern about coughing after ejaculating, there is currently no scientific evidence to suggest that it can directly cause damage to the pelvic floor muscles or organs like the prostate. While it's true that weak pelvic floor muscles can result in urine leakage after urination, there is no direct evidence to indicate that coughing after ejaculation can cause urine to enter the ejaculatory ducts.

If you're experiencing any symptoms related to your pelvic floor health or have further concerns, I strongly recommend consulting a healthcare professional. They can provide you with a thorough evaluation and personalized advice to address your specific situation.

Thanks
