Patient Question

Hello Doctor

What should I do if my cat, who recently had kittens, bit me and is behaving aggressively? I took her in 6 months ago, but she still goes out. What if she has rabies?

Hello

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

A cat bite can potentially transmit rabies if the cat is infected. Rabies is a viral disease that affects the nervous system and is typically spread through the saliva of infected animals, including cats. If concerned about rabies, promptly wash the wound and seek medical attention. Your doctor may recommend rabies vaccination and immunoglobulin. It's crucial to visit your healthcare provider for proper assessment and treatment.

Thanks
